Advanced nurse practitioners are highly experienced and educated members of the care team who are able to diagnose and treat your healthcare needs, prescribe medicines or refer you to an appropriate specialist if needed.

Nurses

Our practice nurses are available by appointment. They look after much of the ongoing (chronic) illness such as Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension and Heart disease as well as offering general nursing services.The practice nurses are available between 08:30am and 18:15pm Monday and 7.00am-18.15pm Tues-Friday.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Business Manager

Melanie is responsible for the general smooth running of the practice, including management of the staff and premises, finances and liaison with external parties such as the CCG and NHS England. Should you wish to discuss any complaint, then please ask at reception to speak to Melanie and she will be pleased to help.

Reception

Our receptionists are approachable and are able to answer many of your queries. They will act as a link between you and other members of the team. If you are in doubt about anything please ask a receptionist for help. Our staff always aim to be courteous and to facilitate the smooth running of the practice.

CCG Pharmacist

We share this pharmacist with other local practices and she works at our practice several days per month. Her role is to support us with prescribing safely, cost effectively and within current guidelines.

Community Midwives

The community midwives hold antenatal clinics on Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday's at Stenhouse our current midwife is Jackie Marriott. They are always available for non-urgent advice or appointment enquires 0115 883 1862 or if you need urgent advice (Mon-Fri 9-5pm) 07817 108 213 or for out of hours 0115 929 9771.

Community Nurses

The Community District Nurses are available for home visiting, when necessary, and for general nursing advice. They also run a continence clinic and leg ulcer clinic. They are accessed by the GP referring you to them for home visits for dressings etc and you can ring them on 0300 083 0100 once you are on their list.

Health Visitors

The health visitors deal mainly with children under the age of five and their families and will contact mums with babies shortly after they have given birth to arrange a home visit. They are based at Park House in Carlton but offer clinics locally in the area. Telephone Park House 0115 961 7616 to contact the team.

First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP)

Did you know we now employ a First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP). This means that rather than you having to wait to see the doctor first with your bone, joint or muscle pain you can now have direct access to the Physiotherapist. Roger Langridge will be working over 3 practices, Calverton, Highcroft and Stenhouse.

Attached Staff

COMMUNITY PHYSIOTHERAPY: The community physiotherapist will assess, advise and treat patients at Arnold Health Centre, Park House in Carlton and City Hospital. Referral is via your GP. PODIATRY: Podiatry is available at Arnold Health Centre and Park House in Carlton. Referral is via the practice nurse or your GP.
